When traveling the desert, there is a time when you long for green trees with lovely shades and life giving meadows. This we found on Route 395 near Lone Pine in California. Route 395 runs along the Western side of the Death Valley.

Watchtower at Desert View
Found this scenic view towards the Watchtower which is situated above the Grand Canyon. One can visit the tower and walk upstairs to have a fantastic view far into the desert to the East or straight down into the magnificent Canyon below. During vacation season it’s crowded, but in fall and spring the temperatures are great and the trails are not crowded.
