Red Rooster Bar

Coming from the "Valley of Fire State Park" which is about one hour Northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, there is suddenly this huge red rooster above the roof of a little bar in Overton greeting us. What a great sight!

Two of the Seven Sisters

Seven Sisters Picnic Area at the Valley of Fire State Park, along the Valley of Fire Highway, belonging to Overton, Nevada. This is 1 hour North of Las Vegas.

Yellow in the Valley of Fire

The yellow flowers are really rare in this hot valley, but having the yellow car in front is even rarer. Love the bike too. And those rocks are breathtaking.

Road in Valley of Fire

These rocks reaching into the blue sky really suit the name of Valley of Fire which is 45 minutes North of Las Vegas, Nevada. On the left side is a road where a car is coming down the hill between the amazing red rocks.

Hikers in the Valley of Fire

Most people in Las Vegas have never heard about it or seen it. The red stone formations are bizarr and fantastic. There is also a Campground and a Visitor Center in the Valley.

Valley of Fire State Park

This place is about 1 hour North of Las Vegas. Most visitors of Las Vegas have never heard about it or seen in. Go I-15 North and turn right into Valley of Fire Highway which brings one to the gate. There is a Campground and a Visitor Center in the park. In the summer, it's really hot, hot, hot.

View from Mt Charleston

Way down in the valley is Las Vegas, Nevada. This position is about half way up Mt. Charleston which is 11,916 feet high. Mount Charleston has 357 inhabitants, a lovely Resort and several nice Hotels. It's a beautiful quiet mountain village, great for hiking in the fresh air with lots of tourists at times.

Above Las Vegas

The town of Mount Charleston is named for nearby Mount Charleston whose Peak is at 11,916 feet. It's about 1 hour West of Las Vegas, it has 357 inhabitants, a few real nice hotels, lots of fresh air and snow in the winter.

Reminder of the Old Days

This Old Horse Drawn Coach was left in the Bonnie Springs Ranch, located 20 mins West of Las Vegas. The ranch was originally created in the 1840s, as a stopover for wagon trains heading to California. It has a long and interesting history before it was closed in 2019 for a land development.

The Shops at Crystals

Looking at the famous "Treehouse" by Mastro's, in the Las Vegas City Center. The Shops at Crystals is a high class shopping mall for the elites of the world. Really beautiful to look at.

Las Vegas Reflections

Looking out the window at the City Center in Las Vegas showed me how confusing perspectives can be. What exactly am I seeing here? The huge Aria to the left with reflections of at least 2 other buildings, plus one huge hotel behind me which reflects in the window I'm looking through. The Crystals, the monorail, another big hotel, the street, and then the courtyard in front. This is all very exciting to see.

Las Vegas Scenery

Some famous images of the Las Vegas Strip from a different angle shown in a warm afternoon light. There is the Paris Hotel and Casino with the Eiffel Tower and its famous Eiffel Tower Restaurant on top and to the left is the Bally's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Usually the strip is packed with cars and pedestrians, but that day was amazingly calm.

Ivanpah Solar Electric

This is an interesting view when you come down I-15 from California towards Las Vegas. The site is Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. The light is very bright. The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is a concentrated solar thermal plant in the Mojave Desert. It is located at the base of Clark Mountain, across the state line from Primm, Nevada.

Desert Plants

Found this beautiful sight at Lake Havasu in Arizona. It's all very prickly and dry, and our little Yorkie hated it. But to see how Nature is coping with the dryness and the heat and still brings these gorgeous plants to life is just amazing.

California Poppy

This is the California State Flower. They grow wild all over the state. Native Americans valued the poppy as a food source and for the oil extracted from the plant. Here we were at the Mission Trails Regional Park near Santee and Hwy 52. It has beautiful trails, a Visitor Center and a Climbers Loop which looks pretty steep.
