Jerome's history is that of a booming copper-mining town at 1 Mile elevation, 26 miles away from Sedona, Arizona. It's considered a Ghost Town, but has 460 inhabitants today.

Copper Mining in Jerome

In 1899 Jerome was established in Arizona to mine Copper. This is one of the rail carts they used. Today Jerome is considered a ghost town with 460 inhabitants. It's close to Sedona, which is the famous town within the red mountains.

Time Stood Still in Jerome

Jerome in Arizona is in the mountains at 5,066 feet elevation. It was established in 1899 and became a booming copper-mining town. Today there live 460 people among historic buildings, with hotels, restaurants, shops, and an artist colony and wineries.

Very heavy Meteorite

It formed the Meteor Crater near Winslow, Arizona, about 50,000 years ago. It weighs 535 lbs = 242 kg. It was relatively small, maybe 24 inches long or so. And it felt totally cold, not like lava or rock.

On Hwy 89 there is this little town of Cameron with the old Tanners Crossing Bridge spanning the Little Colorado River. It’s really dry and flat here. The little bushes are trying to grow.

Navajo Bridge
