Blue Hour at Monument Valley
It was 6:09 AM. Still rather dark with a strange pink light rising behind the Monuments. No traffic, totally calm and serene.

It's almost sunset in Monument Valley. The road leading to Utah is empty, as it's far to get to the next town for the night.

Just when we arrived at the Mexican Hat, looking for a place to park without messing up the scenery for others, those 3 RVs passed us and drove right into my picture. That was so funny, I had to capture that moment.

Close to downtown San Diego is this beautiful Seeaport Village and Embarcadero Marina. Gorgeous hotels and some interesting highrisers in the background. Looks like those workers are rebuilding or adding docks in front.

En route to Mexican Hat in Utah on Hwy 162 one can see the mountain range leading to the "Valley of the Gods" in the distance. There was a strong sandstorm which is seen in the haze on the mountains. Far in the back is a road, that might be our road?

In Bluff, which is a little village in Utah, at the cross roads of Hwy 191 and 163 there are these fantastic Twin Rocks towering over the Trading Post. This is way out there in the desert on the way to Mexican Hat.

The village of Bluff is on the cross roads of Hwy 162 and 191 in Utah. We arrived at noon. No person was to be seen, just a cute little cat was resting under the big tree in the garden of the old Cow Canyon Trading post. It seemed the truck from Littleton in Colorado had worked hard for the Quarter Horse Farm until right here it gave up and now it still stood there with flat tires and amused the visitors that come by to take a break in the new Trading Post under the Twin Rocks across the street.

Mesa Verde is still a mystery even today. The Cliff Palace contains about 150 rooms. There are workers down there who take good care of the palace, like fixing walls or stairs and trimming trees and bushes. Why the Anasazi built their dwellings into the walls of the canyon, and why they suddenly left without a trace, no one has figured that out yet. And unless we find papers or drawings, we might never know.

From the distance the Anasazi Cliff Dwellings look so small, but there are 150 rooms in this huge canyon wall. Nowadays with helicopters it might not be too difficult to build this complex, but during the time of the Anasazi, I can not imagine how they managed to do that.

This little lake is on Hwy 65 in Colorado, going South towards Montrose via the Grand Mesa which is way up at about 9,000 feet. And of course it's still very cold and windy. The air is fresh and crisp. One can feel how nature is waiting to warm up and bloom again.

Close to Montrose in Colorado there is this lake at 9,000 feet elevation. When we were there it was cold and windy. But the melting ice gave the lake a very interesting look and wonderful reflections. The trees were dark and the sky grey. Not a place to spend the night.

Even though it's springtime at Grand Mesa in Colorado, it's still pretty cold here in the mountains. One can only feel that the winter is over by the warmth of the sun and the snow melting, but the air is cold. The Aspen are still holding back, maybe they are expecting another snowstorm.

This mountain looks like a pretty skirt with golden seams. It is located at the entrance to the Sego Canyon Road BLM159 in Utah off I-70. We entered the canyon road to find the Sego Ghost Town. But the road went on and on till it finally ended. We set off by foot on the dirt road. After about a mile it got so hot and dry, that we decided to turn around. And that was good. Later on we realized that we should have taken the little dirt road further down the road.Later on we realized that we should have taken the little dirt road further down the road.
