Mount Charleston, Las Vegas

West of Las Vegas is Mount Charleston. This photo was taken at 7,350ft elevation. There is a cute little village, plus the temperatures are nice and cool up here in the summer while they get some snow in the winter.

Red Rock Canyon

Only 15 minutes West of Las Vegas there is this famous Red Rock Canyon in the distance. This is an ideal scene for hiking, rock climbing and other outdoor activities.

Classic Oldie

This black Oldie looks like a bull. I'm sure he had great horse power and used a lot of gas. I forgot to ask but was totally intrigued by the flowing forms and the beauty of the chrome. We had a great time here at "Celebrity Cars" in Las Vegas.

Yellow Cadillac

"Celebrity Cars" in Las Vegas have the most gorgeous cars on display. We saw the Oldies driving by and had to go in and ask if we could take some pictures. And they were friendly enough to let us roam around the whole showroom. The ambient was really wonderful with colorful pictures on the walls and great music.

"Done for the day".

They were working all day on this new development behind Rhodes Ranch in Las Vegas. Now they are done for the day. Those huge machines have a very special personality and the sunset over the western mountains gives this one a beautiful background.

Solvang in California

The historic Danish village of Solvang is a unique getaway. It belongs to the Santa Barbara wine country of California. Most of the buildings really look like the houses in Denmark. I know because I was in Denmark years ago. Also the ambience is very similar, not just because of the buildings but also because the people who live there who are really very friendly.

Solvang Street Art

Lovely scenery in the famous Danish town of Solvang in California. They built most of the town in the original Danish style. The people are very friendly and helpful like the first Europeans who moved into the area and helped each other to build and plant and grow.

Walking through Solvang in California feels like being in Denmark. Small galleries and shops with lots of flowers and decorations, really friendly merchants and fantastic little gardens, plus of course some windmills.

Solvang, California

The historic Danish village of Solvang is a beautiful and unique place with about 5,300 very friendly people exactly like in Denmark. Even the roofs and the windmills are Danish. This is the entrance to the Brewing Company of Solvang.

Morro Bay

This is the other side of the Morro Bay harbor. We had a great time in this lovely little beach town on Hwy 1 in California. Across the hills is Atascadero on Hwy 101 and North from here is San Simeon with the famous Hearst Castle way up in the hills. It's a fantastic stretch of coastline.

Morro Bay Harbor

Morro Bay is a quiet little beach town on Highway 1, also known as The Pacific Coast Highway in California. Out there at the end of the Beach is the Morro Rock which is an ancient volcanic mound. Not far from here (29 miles) is Hearst Castle way up in the hills.

Cayucos, California

All along the Pacific Coastline one finds the most picturesque towns and villages with old looking buildings in the style of 100 years ago or actual old towns. I really enjoyed the look of this little pharmacy with all those lovely reflections in the windows and some chairs outside to relax while you wait.

San Simeon Coast

Beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean. This area is close to San Simeon, California, with the Hearst Castle up on the hills. In these cliffs live lots of birds and seals and cormorants roam the rocks. San Simeon has a lovely camping park and hotels. Further South on Hwy 1 is Cambria, a gorgeous little town with interesting shops and restaurants.

Wild California Coast

Here is the land of the cormorants. You see them rest on the rocks drying their wings. Cormorants like to build their nests inside the cliffs of the Pacific Coast. This area is close to San Simeon and Cambria.

Natural Wild Beach

Here you can walk with all your dogs. This beach is kept like Mother Nature creates it. The big wood logs are being swept in by the huge waves that hit the beach when there is a strong storm out in the Pacific Ocean.

Trees on the Cliff

At the Beach of San Simeon there is this calm water area right behind the beach where the waves of the Pacific do not crash on a regular basis. But sometimes they do and that's when the trees an in danger. But on this day it was calm and beautiful.
